February 2020 – Malcom Driffield on Larches

Braving the horrendous weather that was affecting the whole country, Malcolm Driffield drove all the way from Shaftsbury to give us the benefit of his years of experience working with Larches. As bonsai subjects Larches are relatively easy to grow, but not nearly as easy to produce a convincing bonsai. Malcolm went into great detail for us, explaining and demonstrating his techniques, right from the basics of starting with very young material all the way up to pruning and shaping of bigger trees, including one massive specimen that probably weighed as much as some folks whole collection of trees! Many thanks to Malcolm for making the effort in very nasty driving conditions.
