One of our members, Andy, visited Mallorca recently and whilst there paid a visit to Bonsai sense near Palma, the nursery of Rafael Torres and Deyssa Sánchez. It was well worth the plane, bus and taxi needed to get there! There were trees for sale from starter trees to specimen trees of various species, but the species of note has to be the olives. The mountains of Mallorca seem to be the perfect place for olives with twisted, gnarled trunks and great, fissured bark. This makes, along with excellent care and cultivation, bonsai of excellent potential and quality and many of these can be found at Bonsai Sense. As such the temptation was too much and one of these olives is now headed over to England and Andy’s garden! Many thanks go to Deyssa who on the day was very welcoming and helpful. The nursery is well worth a visit should you be on the island at any point. Check their website (spanish language) here https://www.bonsaisense.com
