This meeting was supposed to be repotting AND grafting however the grafting took centre stage and I don’t believe much repotting took place at all! First up was Gary who demonstrated the technique of side veneer grafting. Neil was unfortunately unable to attend this meeting. Instead, his demonstration of thread grafting was carried out by Andy on his Deshojo Japanese Maple with a brief talk on its application generally speaking. Lastly, Brian showed us another method of grafting and the results of that technique before letting us loose! we each got the chance to try out grafting Pauls Scarlet Hawthorn scions on to regular Hawthorn rootstocks. It was a busy meeting indeed with new faces again and most of our regulars in attendance. Thanks to those who demonstrated for us, lots of information was taken away, and hopefully some good Pauls Scarlets in the future!
