February and March meetings – Repotting and Yamadori dig

February’s meeting saw a number of members starting work on the Spring repotting of their trees, ready for the growing season. Some trees went into bonsai pots while others were put into pond baskets to help develop a fine root system, thicken the trunk and create their initial style.

In March several members attended a Yamadori dig at Haldon Forest, many thanks to Brian for organising. A good range of trees were collected including Beech, Oak, Hemlock, Spruce and Larch. The dig also saw us welcome a new member to the club. The next day was the usual monthly club meeting where members potted up their collected trees. A nice selection of trees were also brought for the display bench.
